With Clive starting the film "Trust" in November I wonder if he will be able to be in Australia for the premiere of TBAB. It certainly would seem the film's star should be there but again Australia is a long way to go if you have to be in Detriot around the same time. Maybe the schedules have been worked out.
Model-turned-actress Emma Booth says filming romantic scenes with British heartthrob Clive Owen in the Australian outback was like every woman's dream - apart from the flies that kept crawling up her nose.
The pair was filming The Boys Are Back, the latest movie by Shine director Scott Hicks, around South Australia's stunning Fleurieu Peninsula.
It was November, and the flies were out in force.
"We were trying to do these really intimate scenes and it was like, 'oh my God, I've got a fly crawling up my nose'," Booth told AAP.
"The amount of retakes we had to do because it was just like flies in the eyes and the ears, while trying to look really sexy and romantic."
The Boys Are Back is based on the memoir of Simon Carr, about a sports journalist who struggles to be a father to his two sons after losing his wife to cancer.
Booth and co-star Erik Thomson admitted they both felt a little starstruck at first by Owen, the handsome star of films like The International and Closer.
"There was a point sitting on the decking where it was this romantic scene, he'd cooked me lunch and we were drinking wine, and everyone had just pissed off for a while, all the crew," Booth said.
"We were just sitting there chatting, and I was like, oh my God, this is like every woman's dream - I'm just sitting here sharing wine and pasta with Clive Owen staring into my eyes. This is awesome."
Owen was unable to join the stars of the film at the premiere of The Boys Are Back in Adelaide on Monday night because of filming commitments overseas.
But director Hicks said Owen had really hoped to be back in Adelaide for the opening, because he had enjoyed his time there so much.
"He absolutely loved being here and was very eager to come back, and then this film came up," Hicks said.
"He clearly had the most wonderful time.
"He's got a very relaxed personality. He felt a bit like an Aussie to me - like a sort of honorary Aussie."
For Hicks, the film gave him a chance to work in the beautiful part of the country he calls home.
"That part of the world on the Fleurieu is somewhere I really love, and I spent a lot of time there and have a vineyard up in the Adelaide Hills there," he said.
"For years I've had to answer the question, 'why do you live in Adelaide? Why do you live in South Australia?'. So I guess the film is a riposte to that," he laughed.
The Boys Are Back opens nationally on November 12.

My girlfriend and I both thoroughly enjoyed it! Clive was wonderful of course but is his performance award-worthy? .............. probably not, in my opinion.
But then, I'm only a movie fan, what do I know??? A really excellent performance none-the-less but there are many other excellent performances out there
too. We'll just have to wait and see.
