Yes, Clive is here | #26 | |||||||

My sister heard, on a local radio station, that Clive had been spotted at The Beach Hut (Dodgem cars, Fun rides, etc.) at one of our seaside suburbs. He had a
young boy with him, so I'm guessing (note: I said "guessing") that it's possibly the younger boy from the movie?? They didn't appear to
be with an entourage of people. Just getting to know the younge lad perhaps??? Haven't seen or heard anything else - no paparazzi pics or anything as
yet.
Three more sleeps until my big day!! Aren't I going to be disappointed if they're filming a scene with no Clive????
Will keep you posted next week. Hugs, Lyn. |

Oh wow - lucky you, Lyn! Here's a small article from Sydney's Daily Telegraph today, and this is the first mention I've seen of his arrival:
UK ACTOR WANTS IN As if an invite to the Emirates marquee wasn't already the most sought-after piece of cardboard in the country, now the fillies have even more reason to try to whinny their way in. Debonair UK actor Clive Owen is in talks to step into the opulent Birdcage pavilion come November. The Oscar-nominated actor, who starred alonside Aussie actresses Cate Blanchett and Abbie Cornish in Elizabeth - The Golden Age, has arrived in Oz to shoot Shine director Scott Hicks' new flick, The Boys are Back. But he is keen to jet over from the South Australian set and get in on the horsey action. |

Driving force ... Actor Clive Owen arrives in Hendon for talks about the new film yesterday. PICTURE: SARAH REED http://www.news.com.au/ad...,24409762-5012985,00.html HOLLYWOOD star Clive Owen (Elizabeth: The Golden Age, King Arthur and The Bourne Identity) was in Hendon yesterday making last-minute preparations for the new Scott Hicks' movie The Boys Are Back. The $18.5 million production - the biggest SA movie directed by a local - starts principle photography on Monday. Looking dapper in a white shirt, black slacks and skate shoes, the Oscar-nominated star arrived in an Audi A8 at 9.30am and left in mid-afternoon. The production offices in the old Tytronics building were a hive of activity gearing up for the eight-week shoot. The Boys Are Back producer Tim White revealed the production would inject about $10 million in to the SA economy. The movie will use locations across Adelaide including a McLaren Flat vineyard, Flinders Private Hospital, the airport, The Advertiser newsroom and Kangarilla Primary School. The production will wrap up on November 29 with post-production expected to be completed by mid-2009.

It is amazing how Clive can make wearing a white shirt look like a work of art. How handsome! If the movie is done with post production by mid 2009 I wonder
if this will be released in the fall of next year perhaps around the time for oscar consideration. It sounds like the kind of emotional character study movie
that oscar voters would like. Just a thought.

You're right, JG, he does rock a white shirt.
What is the Birdcage Pavilion? A horse track? |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melbourne_Cup The Melbourne Cup is Australia's major annual thoroughbred horse race. Billed as The race that stops a nation, it is for three-year-olds and over, and covers a distance of 3,200 metres. It is generally regarded as the most prestigious "two-mile" handicap in the world. The event is held on the first Tuesday in November by the Victoria Racing Club, on the Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne. This day was traditionally only a public holiday within metropolitan Melbourne, but is now also observed as a holiday in the ACT. http://www.australiantrav...om/index.cfm?page_id=1781 Getting on it |

Damn! Wrong day! I drove past the movie studio around 9:30 on Wednesday morning in the hope that I may see some activity that included Clive! No such luck!
Maybe better on Monday?? Fingers & toes crossed!
By the way, I wasn't surprised to read that he's heading to THE big race meeting whilst he's in Oz! He sure seems to like the gee-gees! Down here, it is the biggest event on the racing calendar! Hugs, Lyn.

Clive Owen starrer is an adaptation of Simon Carr's novelSept 29, 2008, 12:00 AM ET
NEW YORK -- Miramax Films has acquired North American and Western European rights (excluding Spain) to Scott Hicks' drama "The Boys Are
Back," starring Clive Owen.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0292182/
In Allan Cubitt's adaptation of Simon Carr's seriocomic novel "The Boys Are Back in Town," Owen plays a widower struggling to raise his two sons. Laura Fraser and Emma Booth also star. Greg Brenman ("Billy Elliot") and Tim White ("Out of the Blue") are producing the film, which begins principal photography today in Australia. "I had been wanting to continue the relationship with Scott Hicks I had started so long ago on 'Shine,' " Miramax president Daniel Battsek said. "Once Clive signed on, all of the pieces fell into place." Miramax senior vp Kristin Jones and vp Peter Lawson brought the project to the studio. Jones will oversee production. Executive vp Michael Luisi and vp Peter McPartlin negotiated on the studio's behalf. Tiger Aspect Pictures and Southern Light Films are co-producers in association with BBC Films and Film Finance Corporation of Australia. HanWay Films is handling international sales and distribution in other territories.

Yesterday was TOTALLY AMAZING!!!! Clive was on the set all day so there was ample time and opportunity to gaze upon his handsome face! The body is pretty good
too!
On the negative side, however, I didn't get the opportunity to speak with him, despite being within arm's length on several occasions! The very best opportunity I would have had was when he first arrived on the set and he came and stood virtually next to me to talk to Scott, before filming began. Once the cameras started rolling, he was in work mode and it was obvious that there was no way to approach him for the rest of the day. When it was getting very late in the day, they were shooting several scenes in the carpark. I did ask one of the crew if she thought it would be possible to catch Clive before he left and ask him to sign something I had in the car (which was right where they were shooting). Her response was: "I don't know if he will. I don't know that you should even ask him but I'll see what I can find out." She was extremely busy, as she had already been for 12 long hours and she didn't come back to me with a reply - so, sadly, no conversation, no autograph and no photos! But, my goodness, I did spend a lot of the day just gazing at him and that was reward in itself!! Awesome day!! Hugs, Lyn. |

A couple of little add-ons here - of the scenes that were shot yesterday, I was in 4 of them. Fingers crossed I'll get to catch a glimpse of Clive and me
on screen at the same moment! Something to treasure forever!
Whilst waiting around I was speaking with a lad named Alex who is the stand-in for Harry (George). A lovely lad - very quiet. On the other hand, Artie is such an extrovert! Talk about hyper!! He bounced around all day, from morning till night! Speaking of stand-ins - Clive's stand-in is a very good choice. Not when you look at his face, of course, but his physique is very "Clive". It suddenly occurred to me last night that Clive attending the Melbourne Cup could possibly be a part of the storyline? Joe is a sports reporter after all and there's no doubt that the Melbourne Cup is the biggest race meeting in Oz. He could be killing two birds with one stone - get to attend the meeting and make it part of the movie also??? That's just me guessing again. Just prior to the end of the day, I asked another member of the crew to "Please wish Clive a very, very happy birthday for Friday from one of his biggest fans". Hugs, Lyn. |
